DEVELOPING A SHOW PLAN

We encourage you to start discussing your showing plans with our coaches before the season begins in February so that we can develop a supportive coaching and show plan.

Where we show

EASY ACCESS TO SHOWS

We show in the Province of Ontario.  We are conveniently located just off Highway #400 in King City and a short distance to all of the shows and competitions throughout the province.

OUR 2017 TRILLIUM SHOW SCHEDULE

We show on the Trillium circuit in the central east zone. Competitions begin in early February and end in September. You can click on the following link to see a list of show times and locations for the season.  www.centraleastzone.com

HOW TO BEGIN SHOWING

IT’S EASY TO BEGIN SHOWING

You don’t need your own horse to begin showing, we can find horses for Lease and we can help with every aspect from registration to transportation and show set up, and of course coaching.

HOW TO BEGIN

It is easy to start showing and you do not need to have your own horse to do so.  As a young child, showing starts with a lead line class where the only prerequisites are being able to sit on a horse and membership in the Ontario Equestrian Federation (OEF). We have children as young as 5 & 6 competing in lead line.  As an adult, the classes you will show in depend entirely upon your skill level.  You may show from adult amateur to novice hunter or a number of classes in between. Our coaches will work with you to determine the best classes for you to show in.  The Meadows' staff handles all registrations, transportation and show set up. See our section on support for more details.

SHOWING FOR A SEASON

For those interested in showing for an entire season it is best to lease a horse before purchasing to ensure that the future investment is a suitable one.  The Meadows would recommend introductory training of at minimum 1-3 months with our staff prior to leasing a suitable animal for yourself or your child to begin their competitive career. We can assist in finding a suitable lease horse for the season for you. Should you determine that showing and ownership is in your future, we can assist in finding a horse that best suits your riding and showing goals.

TIME AND COST COMMITMENTS

A SHOW PLAN CAN BE TAILORED TO YOUR TIME AVAILABILITY

Depending upon your goals, your coach will advise the priority shows you should attend and which ones are optional. We can develop a schedule to fit your needs.

TIME COMMITMENTS

The time involved in preparing and continuing to compete varies depending on your level. A minimum of three (3) riding days per week including one lesson is a great place to start.  There are many shows throughout the season and you do not have to attend them all. Depending upon your goals your coach will advise the priority shows you should attend and which ones are optional. Shows are a full day commitment and our staff remains with you throughout the day. Please reference the show schedules in the Links section of the website or in the “Memberships needed for showing” section.

THE COST OF SHOWING

The cost of showing varies depending upon the level you are competing at and the number of shows you attend. In general, you will need to take into consideration the following costs: show registration, day-of-show coaching support, show riding apparel and transportation for your horse.  We would be pleased to discuss with you the specific costs and develop a budget for the upcoming show season.

VIEWING & TACK ROOMS

Viewing - Watch in Comfort

We know what it is like to be a supporting parent or sibling to a rider. Cold winter or humid summer nights in a stable can be really unpleasant. We have designed a heated and air-conditioned viewing room with TV, Wi-Fi and a kitchenette for your comfort and convenience. Come join us inside and enjoy watching our riders!

Viewing outside…. Come join us at our shaded Cabana by the outdoor ring and enjoy spring/summer/fall viewing in comfort.

Tack Rooms - Floor to Ceiling Tack Boxes

We know what it is like to try to cram your saddle into an undersized or difficult to reach tack box – we have none of these at The Meadows. Our tack boxes are lockable, floor-to-ceiling with tons of storage for all your equipment.

The stable is equipped with a 24’ x 24’ large heated tack room with 30 private lockers most equipped with double saddle racks and floor to ceiling storage. The tack room has a separate equipment wash station and a viewing area looking into the arena. There are separate commercial grade laundry facilities, and a heated washroom on the lower level.

Our property has large grass paddocks for daily individual and group turnout. We have fresh, year-round water supply to every paddock through a new Nelsen automatic hydrant system. The entire property is completely secure and there is no access for horses to the main driveway and roads.  There is ample tracking with lovely scenery.

Turnout

We provide daily turnout customized to every horse’s individual needs. Horses have free choice hay while outdoors. All outdoor hay is managed by feeders that are horse safe. Gateways and pathways are maintained for safety and easy use.

Feeding Programs

Our horses are on an individual custom feed program fitted to their specific needs. We educate ourselves on a regular basis to ensure our horses are getting the best nutritional value out of their feed program. Our guaranteed hay supply is of the best quality and is always stored inside to maintain a top-quality feeding program.
